FISHING CHARTERS in HOMer, ALASKA

Tenacious Charters is an indepenent, owner-operated company specializing in customized fishing trips for groups up to six.

Halibut Fishing

Homer is known as “The Halibut Fishing Capital of the World!”

If you’re after this prized and delicious flatfish, we have a variety of trip lengths to suit all groups and experience levels.

COMBO FISHING

One of our more popular trips, a two-species combo charter is a great way to experience a mixture of fishing styles and techniques.

Choose two: halibut, salmon or rockfish, and bring home a variety of fillets!

SALMON FISHING

There’s nothing like a fight with a King!

Try your hand at trolling for King Salmon and other salmon species that feed in our waters. These powerful fish are a total thrill to catch and are highly prized by locals and visitors alike.

Choosing between a group or private charter

Private Charters

Private Charters reserve the whole boat for your group of up to 6 so you get to call the shots! If it is financially feasible, we suggest Private Charters for parties of 4 or more, as it means we can offer a more tailored experience.

Celebrating a special occasion? Opting for a private trip makes for a particularly memorable day on the water!

GROUP Charters

Group Charters are sold by the seat for solo fishermen, couples or smaller groups looking to enjoy the day with other anglers. We can take up to 6 clients total, per regulations, kids included.

We love meeting strangers in the morning with the opportunity to embrace them as friends by the end of the day. Aboard a shared charter, we hope this is also your experience, and we take great care to meet each party’s needs and ensure everyone has the trip of a lifetime.

Please note:

We do have a three-seat minimum purchase on the first reservation for Group Charters, as it is cost-prohibitive for us to fish with less than three customers.

If you are looking to purchase two seats or less on a Group Charter and are the first reservation on a given day, please call us at 907-891-7009 to discuss options, or opt to join another trip that is not yet at capacity.

If you are a group of two, we offer the option to purchase a third seat and receive a refund if the seat is resold. We make every effort to resell the seat and do so more often than not in our peak months.

If the seat is not resold, you get the boat to yourself, essentially receiving a Private Charter for only the cost of that extra seat, which can be a fun perk if it occurs.

If you choose to purchase only two seats and we cannot find others to join on the trip, we will not be able fish that day.

Feel free to call us if you have any questions.

Trip Lengths

Full Day Charters

Full day charters offer the most catch potential and possibility of wildlife viewing. If you’re serious about filling your freezer or hunting a trophy, let’s put in the time! These trips can target one or two species, and typically last between 8 to 10 hours, so be sure to bring food, drinks and a sense of adventure!

3/4 day Charters*

A slightly abbreviated version of a full day trip, and limited to a single species. Catch potential is somewhat less, but you will still have every opportunity to catch. This trip is best suited for anglers interested in experiencing Alaskan fishing but seeking a somewhat shorter day on the water, typically 6 to 8 hours.

1/2 day Charters*

Our shortest trips stay closer to home, and focus on the adventure and experience of fishing over reaching limits or targeting trophies. They are best suited for families with young children or anglers with limited mobility or stamina, last 4 to 6 hours, and typically return to the harbor by 1pm.

*Due to their specialized nature and shorter fishing times, 1/2 and 3/4 day trips are only offered as Private Charters to ensure we can provide the best experience for everyone.

SEASONALITY

Peak Season

Our Peak Season is between June 1 and September 4 (Labor Day). This is the busiest time in Homer for most industries, and is the prime season for all our target species, as well as spectacular wildlife viewing and the best weather.

Shoulder Season

Our Shoulder Seasons bookend the prime summer months, and are between May 1–31 and September 5–30.

We offer slightly discounted rates during these months due to fishing seasonality and higher probability of inclement weather, but these months still present plenty of opportunity to fish in Homer.

target species

halibut

salmon

Get ready for a fight, because it can get exciting with a salmon on the line! The best days are when multiple lines hook up at once, for a sought-after ‘double’ or ‘triple’ — but the real trick is getting them all to the boat!

rockfish

These guys can be feisty — and watch out for their spines! But they sure are delicious. Many species of rockfish can be found throughout our waters, often targeted as part of a Combo Charters.

Can’t decide on what to fish for? Choose a combo and target two species of your choice, or ask the captain for recommendations. This offers you the chance to try different fishing techniques, and get a variety of fillets for the freezer.
